The Alabama Crimson Tide will hit the road for the first time this season for a matchup against the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday afternoon.
Each program will enter conference play fresh off an authoritative victory in Week 1, as Alabama defeated ECU 48-10 while Kentucky beat Youngstown State by a final score of 45-13. The Tide will face their first true test of the season in what should be an extremely hostile environment on the road, and the team as a whole will need to play at a high level throughout all four quarters of Saturday’s contest.
Kentucky running back CJ Baxter recently took a moment to reveal his excitement towards facing Alabama, as Baxter believes the preparation leading up to the game will be key.
“Of course. Preparation is a big thing, we preach that the way you practice is the way you are going to play.” Baxter said. “And today, we had a phenomenal practice. Just seeing the energy, everybody flying around, we know what it is. SEC game against Bama, great opponent. That’s why you come to schools like this, to play high caliber talent. It’s an NFL game at the end of the day, so super excited for it.”
Baxter recorded 48 yards and two touchdowns during Kentucky’s victory over Youngstown State last weekend. The running back could quickly emerge as a difference maker on the Wildcats’ offense on Saturday, and the Crimson Tide defense as a whole will need to put a strong emphasis on stopping the run throughout the entire afternoon.
