Does Keelon Russell feel he is more prepared to play a road game?

Keelon Russell is fresh off his best start as a college quarterback after a five-touchdown performance against South Carolina.

Russell threw for 365 yards and four touchdowns against the Gamecocks last night, and he also rushed for 25 yards and one touchdown. After having an outstanding performance in the friendly confines of Bryant-Denny Stadium, Russell was asked if he feels more prepared to play on the road.

“I mean, obviously I gotta get better,” Russell said. “It’s still a lot of knickknacks that, you know, I can fix. Just gotta keep building, keep growing, and eventually it’s gonna come. It’s gonna get better and better each and every week. But, you know, if I can get better, I’m getting the offense better as well. So the more I get better, the more I can build. I can bring my guys with me. You know, we can build together. And that’s what we are going to do. We’re going to build as an offense, even the defense. Iron sharpens iron. So I’m gonna sharpen them, they’re gonna sharpen me, and we’re gonna keep building.”

Russell got off to a rocky start against Kentucky on the road earlier this season, and he finished the game with just 188 passing yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

The quarterback will get his next road test in a highly anticipated matchup against Mississippi State. The game has an opportunity to be a quarterback duel between Russell and Kamario Taylor.
