TUSCALOOSA, Ala.– After being shredded by its quarterbacks last week, Alabama head coach Nick Saban saw improvement Saturday from the Crimson Tide’s defense at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
According to sources, sophomore Jalen Hurts and five-star freshman Tua Tagovailoa had a tough time consistently moving the offense. The defense generated a pass rush, forced a Tagovailoa fumble, a Mac Jones interception and limited Hurts to a lower completion percentage this week.
“The defense really came to play,” the source said.
“It held Jalen, Tua and the offense to field goals on a lot of red zone plays. Jalen was able to create with his legs, but his passing was off. He should’ve had an interception, but the ball bounced off the defender’s chest pads.”
Despite frustrating signal callers, five stars Jerry Jeudy and Najee Harris showed dominance.
“Jerry Jeudy brought in some long catches and Harris is still hard to tackle,” the source said.
With the defense showing resiliency, the final week of spring ball will be interesting. Alabama next trip to BDS is scheduled for Saturday, April 22 at 2 p.m. – which marks the team’s A-Day game.
