After one season of helping Alabama’s offense as an off-field analyst, Dan Werner is on the move.
He was hired onto Nick Saban’s coaching staff back in the summer, on the heels of having successful careers as the offensive coordinator at Ole Miss and University of Miami.
Through 13 games this year, Werner helped on-field assistants Brian Daboll and Michael Locksley produce a group that averaged 37.9 points (first in Southeastern Conference), 450 total yards (fourth in SEC), 256 rushing yards (second in SEC) and 6.7 yards per play.
News of Werner’s departure came via FootballScoop.com, citing sources.
With his mindset upstairs, the Crimson Tide enters the College Football Playoff National Championship Game at 12-1 against Georgia. During his time at Mississippi, Werner mentored two 3,000-yard passers (Bo Wallace, Chad Kelly) while helping multiple receivers become primary assets for the National Football League. He was a major part of the Rebels obtaining a 10-win season in 2015 (10-3), despite NCAA sanctions hitting the school in December of 2017.
