Not a whole lot occurred in Tuesday’s practice following rest on Monday; however, seeing offensive tackle Matt Womack return to work was nice.
Alabama’s starter at right tackle throughout 2017 has missed the first four games of this season, because of a foot injury he suffered in fall practice.
Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban said he would miss four to six weeks, but his father – David Womack – was first to report the news Sunday on his son’s return.

The 6-foot-7, 325-pounder anchored the right side of an offensive line that finished as a finalist for the Joe Moore Award in 2017. He was a big part of helping Alabama secure a College Football Playoff national title, while assisting running back Damien Harris to his second 1,000-yard season. During the second half of the championship game versus Georgia, he protected Tua Tagovailoa and allowed him to toss for three scores at Mercedes-Benz Stadium back in January.
Sophomore Jedrick Wills has served at right tackle in Womack’s absence, but the Tide has struggled to establish a potent rushing attack. Despite lining up with the second team, the native Mississippian anticipates working back to the first-team unit. Womack has proven to be a dominant run blocker and has shown signs to be solid in pass protection.
It will take him a moment to get back up to speed; nevertheless, his presence provides depth and experience.
