According to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz, Alabama redshirt freshman running back Jerome Ford has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal.
The Seffner, FL native also tweeted out a telling message yesterday, hinting at his decision to enter the portal.
I don’t know where im goin, I just know ima win.
— Jerome Ford (@Rome813_) January 7, 2020
Ford appeared in four games and started one for Alabama in 2019 after redshirting the 2018 season. In his second year with the team, Ford rushed for 114 yards and three touchdowns for the Crimson Tide.
Alabama’s backfield next season will be another crowded one with the return of five-star recruit Tre Sanders along with the team’s second-leading rusher in Brian Robinson Jr.
Junior running back Najee Harris is also yet to announce his intentions on staying at Alabama or entering the NFL Draft which would also have a big impact on the playing time of Ford next season.
Alabama lost eight scholarship players to the transfer portal in 2019 which include defensive lineman Antonio Alfano (Colorado), linebacker Eyabi Anoma (Houston), quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Layne Hatcher (Arkansas State), tight end Kendrick James (SMU), offensive lineman Richie Petitbon (Illinois), defensive back Kyriq McDonald (Cincinnati) and long snapper Scott Meyer.
