Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey showing out through offseason practice

Patrick McDermott-USA TODAY Sports

Even with having three veteran cornerbacks on its roster, a rookie caught the attention of the Baltimore Ravens during offseason practices in the last couple of months. Since being taken No. 16 overall in this year’s NFL Draft, Marlon Humphrey has not shied away from competition.

Per the Ravens’ Twitter page, a video was posted today on Humphrey’s progress.

In a 35-second snippet, Humphrey is seen working the sled, making an interception and breaking up a couple of passes. At the 10-second mark, defensive coordinator Dean Pees addressed the media on what he likes about Humphrey. He mentions the former Alabama standout’s height, weight and 40-time.

“Dude is six-foot-tall, 190 something pounds and runs a 4.40,” Pees said on Humphrey.

“What is it they don’t like about this guy?”

Humphrey played two seasons at corner for Alabama, following his redshirt year in 2014.

He would total 81 tackles, 13 pass breakups and five interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown to start the 2016 campaign against University of Southern California. His biggest play in Crimson Tide history is recovering a perfectly executed onside kick off the foot of Adam Griffith, during the 2016 College Football Playoff National Championship versus Clemson at University of Phoenix Stadium. Jimmy Smith, Brandon Carr and Brandon Boykin all have a ton of experience, but Humphrey could be a difference maker as a rookie.
