STEPHEN M. SMITH / SENIOR REPORTER

Alabama 38 – Mississippi State 13

Key Insight: “Alabama has to make a statement after dropping last week’s game against Texas A&M. Expect for Bill O’Brien and Pete Golding to have a much better game plan to attack the Bulldogs. This is a big opportunity for Brian Robinson, John Metchie, Jahleel Billingsley to perform well. Also, today we see who steps up on defense and takes ownership. Alabama needs more than Will Anderson to want to be great.”

JUSTIN SMITH / SCOUTING/RECRUITING ANALYST

Alabama 45 – Mississippi State 28

Key Insight: “Alabama football’s defense will be tested in the air by the pass-heavy Mississippi State offense. If the Crimson Tide’s defense has not worked out the miscommunication on the back end from last week, it could be a long night for Pete Golding and company. It will be interesting to see how Alabama dials up the pressure after not having much success getting to Texas A&M’s quarterback last week. Alabama’s offensive identity in this game and moving forward has to have a good dose of the run game involved. Look for the Crimson Tide to feed Brian Robinson and Roydell Williams.”

PATRICK DOWD / ALABAMA BEAT REPORTER

Alabama 41 – Mississippi State 24

Key Insight: “After a deflating loss last weekend, Alabama will be on a mad dash to fix its mistakes offensively and defensively and it starts today against Mississippi State. It’ll be a big challenge containing Mike Leach’s unique offensive approach as the defense could see struggles again throughout the game. But as a whole the Crimson Tide should be more motivated than ever to get back on track.”
