4-Star OL Payton Kirkland feels the Alabama football program is second to none

Payton Kirkland

Payton Kirkland visited the University of Alabama for the first time this season last weekend.

Kirkland is a product of Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Florida. He garners a four-star rating from multiple recruiting sites and holds more than 50 D1 football offers. The Crimson Tide have not extended an offer to Kirkland yet, but his unofficial visit was a success.

“It was beautiful, to be honest,” Kirkland told Touchdown Alabama. “I really enjoyed myself there. Their program is second to none, and I can see myself being a part of it. The coaches and the support staff treated me well. I got an opportunity to meet with coach Saban a couple of hours before the game. We talked a lot about leadership. He feels I am a great player, and he wants to continue to build a relationship with me.”

The four-star recruit also got an opportunity to take in the Alabama-LSU game on Saturday night.

“The game was crazy,” Kirkland said. “They were both getting after it. The crowd was into it just as much as the players were.”

The Florida product is hopeful an Alabama offer will come his way. He does hold several offers from some of the nation’s best programs, including offers from Ohio State, Oregon, Oklahoma and Texas A&M. All four of those programs are listed in his top twelve.

“It is a lot of great opportunities, and it is truly a blessing from God,” Kirkland said. “I just want to remain humble and keep going.”

It is not difficult to see why Kirkland is closing in on 60 offers. He weighs 330 pounds and stands at 6-foot-5, and his aggressiveness combined with his impressive footwork make him one of the top offensive tackle prospects in the 2023 recruiting class.
