Houston Texans officially sign Will Anderson to rookie contract

The No. 3 overall pick from this NFL Draft now has his rookie contract.

Will Anderson Jr., a University of Alabama alumnus, signed his four-year deal Friday for the Houston Texans.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Anderson’s contract is fully guaranteed at $35.2 million.

It includes a fifth-year option and his agent, Nicole Lynn of Klutch Sports, negotiated him a $22.6 million signing bonus. Anderson has dominated the offseason program for the Texans, making his way to first-team defensive end. J.J. Watt, a Texans legend, called Anderson a ‘phenomenal talent’ and is looking forward to what DeMeco Ryans produces in him.

The native Georgian helped the Crimson Tide to a College Football Playoff National Championship as a freshman in 2020.

He became a two-time Bronko Nagurski Award winner, two-time SEC Defensive Player of the Year, and two-time Unanimous First-Team All-American. Anderson finished his career ranked second behind Derrick Thomas in school history for sacks (34.5).
