Despite joining near the middle of the season, Julio Jones and new quarterback Jalen Hurts are already hitting the ground running from a relationship standpoint.

Hurts explained that due to the shared background of both playing at Alabama, he knows Jones has the right mentality to fit the team and has a great deal of respect for what he’s accomplished in the league already.

“He’s a guy that’s coming in and he’s about his craft,” Hurts said. “Obvioulsy, knowing where he comes from, and knowing where our background resides, he has that mentality. A future Hall of Famer. He’s as good as it gets. So, he’s coming in with a great mentality, and a great person to add to this team.”

Jones is now the sixth former member of the Crimson Tide to join the roster and remembered meeting Hurts when visiting the program in years past.

“I met Jalen at (at Alabama),” Jones said. “I usually go back. Before the pandemic, I used to go back to the University of Alabama and train with the guys and talk to them – Jalen, Smitty, and those guys; a number of guys, Calvin Ridley, everybody. So I have a relationship with him then.

“Amazing talent. Stil a younger guy, but amazing talent. Everything he does, and he has a lot of ownership. He’s a competitor. He’s a leader. Everything you’d want in a quarterback.

Jones will now be looking to help bolster the passing attack alongside the likes of wide receivers DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown as the Eagles look to round out the passing game.
