All team captains aren’t created equal.
No offense to Hale Hentges, but he didn’t have the same pull on Alabama’s 2018 team that Rashaan Evans and Minkah Fitzpatrick had the year before. Jordan Batle was good for a laugh and played a big leadership role in 2022. However, no one came close to commanding the locker room the way Will Anderson Jr. did that season.
Under Kalen DeBoer, Alabama awards its permanent team captains before the season. Two weeks in, it’s hard to fully evaluate the motivational ability of this year’s leadership group.
But when it comes to Alabama’s most important leader, there’s only one answer.
