Georgia football’s head coach Kirby Smart is already seeing things that stand out to him about Alabama’s starting quarterback Ty Simpson in his early preparation for the Crimson Tide.
Simpson has been on a roll over the last two games, completing 41 of his 46 passes for 608 yards and seven passing touchdowns. He has thrown for 861 yards and nine touchdowns this season. The redshirt junior has also displayed his athleticism, rushing for a touchdown and 45 yards in the Crimson Tide’s first three games.
This small sample size is something that stood out to Smart on film in his early preparation for Alabama football.
“I’ve watched two or three games just today as we begin on them,” Smart said Wednesday to reporters on the SEC coaches teleconference. “From what I’ve seen, he’s extremely accurate, and he’s extremely athletic. Those are two things I already knew, turning the tape on.”
Both Georgia and Alabama coaching staffs now continue to scout their competition over their bye weeks, ahead of the Bulldogs welcoming the Crimson Tide to Stanford Stadium on September 27.
