Alabama football’s head coach Kalen DeBoer is well aware the Crimson Tide did not completely live up to the standard set by its fans and its past success during the 2025 season, but he feels the Tide did take steps forward.
DeBoer talked to media members Thursday at the Alabama Football Coaches Association convention, and he discussed why he feels the Tide can build on the 2025 season.
“We took some steps, definitely believe that, I think from within just what you’re trying to build and the belief and confidence that you need to have,” DeBoer said. “I think there’s a lot from year one to year two as far as what I saw. You’re trying to continue to install a culture. You’re trying to install a scheme. I think we were better in the critical moment at the end of games. Obviously, we’ve fallen short of what our expectation is, but I think the habits that you create each and every day, the ones that we would consider that are championship habits, doesn’t mean you’re going to win a championship, but you install those habits. I think we did a lot to make strides in those areas.”
Alabama finished the season 11-4 with appearances in the SEC Championship game and the College Football Playoff. The Tide ended the season with a loss to Indiana in the Rose Bowl.
DeBoer will enter his third season as Alabama’s head coach in the fall.
