Former Alabama tight end OJ Howard could be the latest member of the Crimson Tide to sign with a new team.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Howard was hosted by the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday as the team looks to fill the hole left by Darren Waller who was traded to the Giants this offseason.
A possible Darren Waller replacement? Sources say the #Raiders are hosting former first-round TE OJ Howard, a pass-catcher who can help stretch the defense. The former #Bucs pick had 10 starts for the #Texans last year.

Howard spent the first five seasons of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who drafted him with the 19th overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft. He would appear in a total of 72 games including 56 starts for the Buccaneers. But Howard would see his role in the franchise diminish due to an injury in 2020 and the signing of Tom Brady’s favorite target Rob Gronkowski.
Following a disappointing 2021 season, the Buccaneers let Howard go and would later join the Houston Texans where he appear in 13 games.
Although he hasn’t quite lived up to the first-round pick status, Howard still has a great deal of potential in the right situation.
