Young, an alumnus of the University of Alabama, looked impressive in rookie minicamp. He has taken the same approach to begin organized team activities (OTAs) for the Panthers. According to Cameron Wolfe, a National Reporter for NFL Network, Panthers head coach Frank Reich came away very impressed with Young’s command of the offense. Reich said Young’s command was ’10 out of 10′ on day one of OTAs. Dalton even pointed out that Young recognized a mislabeled tag on a call sheet.

The test evaluates how quickly players can process information on the field. Mel Kiper Jr., an ESPN NFL Draft analyst, called Young one of the best processors at the quarterback position he has ever studied. The California native finished his career for Alabama ranked second all-time for passing yards (8,356), passing touchdowns (80), and total touchdowns (87).
He became the Crimson Tide’s first Heisman winner at quarterback in 2021.
