Alabama football had its first scrimmage of fall camp, and Nick Saban had one injury update.

Jam Miller, a sophomore running back, had been dealing with a quad issue in camp. The native Texan provided a spark on offense and special teams as a freshman in 13 games last year. He recorded 223 rushing yards and two touchdowns, averaging 6.7 yards per rushing attempt on 33 carries. Miller posted both his rushing scores against Vanderbilt at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The 5-foot-10, 211-pounder is nursing a thigh bruise, per Coach Saban.

“He has been limited for a couple of day,” he said about Miller.

“He is working through it. He actually scrimmaged some today, but I don’t think he was 100 percent. He was doing really, really well before he got hurt. We got four to five guys at running back that can play, but the key to the drill is keeping them healthy.”

Miller gives the Crimson Tide an explosive option out the backfield.

As he works through the injury, Alabama enters its second full week of preseason camp next Monday.
