Alabama running back Derrick Henry is in the midst of a Heisman conversation.
The junior running back has been stellar, totaling 1,044 yards with 14 touchdowns on 5.8 yards per carry. Henry’s collected eight receptions this season for 69 yards.
He is averaging 130.5 rushing yards per contest and has recorded a touchdown in 13 consecutive game, the longest current streak nationally. Henry put in 236 rushing yards against Texas A&M, which placed him fourth all-time for Alabama running backs in a single game.
His efforts earned him a spot as a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award (nation’s best collegiate player). The Maxwell Football Club released the announcement Monday.
Former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron was the first to win the award in 2013.
