The Alabama Crimson Tide lead the Missouri Tigers, 13-0, at half-time from Saban Field at Bryant Denny Stadium.
Here is what Alabama football must do complete the victory and move to 6-2:
Put More Emphasizes on Playing Clean Football In All 3 Phases:
Alabama has been flagged for five penalties thus far, surrendering 55 total yards in the first half versus Missouri. This is improvement from a discipline standpoint. The Tide was flagged ten times in the first half going back to last week.
The Crimson Tide must continue to improve upon this trend in the second half, as they look to make life easier on themselves on defense, offense, and special teams.
Continue Pressuring QB:
Alabama has done a good job pressuring Missouri QB Brady Cook, after Cook came into today’s matchup as a game-time decision.
Cook is clearly still ailing in pain and exited the game in the second quarter.
Alabama’s defense must continue to send heavy pressure and play sound coverage in the secondary. This will make Missouri’s backup QB, Drew Payne, look to release quicker than he’d normally like too, forcing him into bad decisions.
Stay Committed To Run Game:
The Alabama offense must stay committed to running the football. This commitment will help improve time of possession, allow both tailbacks Jam Miller and Justice Haynes to establish a rhythm, and keep the Tigers defense off balance in their scheme.
This allows the Tide defense to rest more within quarters.
Make routine layups and convert 3rd downs:
Alabama QB Jalen Milroe must continue to take what the Missouri defense gives him and find a way to convert on third down.
This means Milroe must continue to take quick check downs and screen throws, ultimately, later opening up the pass game for him to find weapons vertically.
