With Alabama’s coaching changes taking place this offseason, there are some lingering questions surrounding the exact roles of some of the members on the coaching staff. On Monday, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer was asked during his presser about any potential involvement that offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb might have is assisting in coaching the offensive line.

“He certainly has a lot of history and background with the offensive line,” DeBoer said, “He can see it all. He can see them line up on the perimeter, but he is also really feeling and seeing and has an intuition of what’s going on up front with the offensive line, so that’s really good with he and Coach Kap (Kapilovic).”

In the past, Grubb has served as the offensive line coach for Sioux Falls, Eastern Michigan, and Fresno State. Each of those schools were also schools that DeBoer coached at. There is a great repour and amount of respect between the two long-time friends. DeBoer trust Grubb, and that will be greatly beneficial in the future for the Crimson Tide.

The offensive line had its share of ups and downs during the 2024 season. However, the unit showed major improvements as a whole from the 2023 to 2024 season. That is a testament to offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how much input Grubb has on the offensive line during the 2025 season.
