Syndication: Tuscaloosa News

The first ever Heisman Trophy winner at Alabama will now be further immortalized in college football history.

Crimson Tide running back Mark Ingram, Ndamukong Suh and Aaron Donald are headlining the 2026 class of the College Football Hall of Fame announced on Wednesday. Head coaches Gary Patterson (TCU) and Chris Peterson (Boise State) are among the coaches being inducted as well.

Ingram won the Heisman Trophy in 2009 under Nick Saban which proved to be a historic season for Alabama where it ended the year 14-0 while winning its first national championship since 1992. He led the SEC in rushing with an Alabama record 1,658 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Ingram currently ranks second in program history in rushing touchdowns with 42 and seventh in rushing yards with 3,261.

He would go on to be selected in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints where he played the first eight seasons of his 12 years NFL career. Ingram would also have a productive two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens before ending his career with the Houston Texans and a reunion with the Saints.

“All glory to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the platform, the ability, and the strength to walk this journey,” Ingram said in a post to X. “Nothing I’ve accomplished is possible without Him.

“Thankful for my family, teammates, coaches, Alabama, and everyone who believed in me along the way. This honor represents far more than just me — it’s everyone who has impacted my life and my journey. This is for us.”

Ingram now serves as an analyst for Fox and is a part of its “Big Noon Kickoff” coverage every Saturday.
