The Alabama Crimson Tide will be on the road for a matchup against the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday afternoon.
The Tide will look to build upon last weekend’s 48-10 win over ECU. Sophomore quarterback Keelon Russell played at a high level for the majority of Saturday’s contest, and the rising star now finds himself with an excellent test on the road this weekend in Kentucky.
Wildcats’ head coach Will Stein recently took a moment to comment on the matchup. Stein previously faced Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer during their respective stints in the Big 10, and Stein believes he could face a similar offense as to what he saw during DeBoer’s time at Washington despite some major changes on the defensive side of the football.
“He has a completely different defensive staff. I went against him twice in ‘23, so much has changed since then.” Stein said. “Their personnel, their defense is completely different. Offensively I think it stays the same, like I said they are very creative. They attack on all fronts, they’ve got good run game, good pass game, drop back game, play action, they have a mobile quarterback. So there offense is always good.”
Stein was the offensive coordinator at Oregon from 2023-2025, while DeBoer was the head coach at Washington from 2022-2023. The Huskies were able to defeat the Ducks on both occasions when DeBoer and Stein faced each other in 2023, and the duo now finds themselves meeting again in a critical matchup to begin conference play this weekend.
