A former Alabama standout found a new NFL home, as the Philadelphia Eagles signed defensive back Nick Perry on Saturday. AL.com’s Matt Zenitz broke the news first via Twitter, while Jeff Kerr of Eagles 247Sports released the story.

Perry, a native of Prattville, Ala., played for coach Nick Saban from 2010-14.
He saw action in 41 career games at safety, accounting for 121 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, a sack and an interception. Perry’s best season came in 2014, after returning from a medical redshirt year in the previous season. He was fourth in tackles (80), and added 4.5 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, two interceptions and a quarterback pressure to his stat sheet.
Despite not being taken through seven rounds of the 2015 NFL Draft, Perry was signed to the Baltimore Ravens as a practice squad player. He was waived from the organization in May, and is now the 89th member of the Eagles’ roster. Perry was a key piece on two Southeastern Conference championship teams (2012, 2014) and two national title teams (2011-12) while at Alabama.
