Building relationships are a huge part of the recruiting process and Alabama has continued to put its best step forward by offering prospects as soon as possible, ensuring they have enough time to build a meaningful relationship with them.
One of the Tide’s latest offers went out to 2023 tight end, Mac Markway.

The rising sophomore currently attends Desmet Jesuit High School in St. Louis, Missouri. The Tide is the sixth program to offer Markway and is the fifth program to do so this month. Markway said an unexplainable feeling swept over him when he found out the Tide offered him.
“Coach (Freddie) Roach contacted my high school coach and he then contacted me and told me to call coach Roach. When I was on the phone with him, he said I wanted to meet with you to say you have been offered by the University of Alabama,” Markway said. “I really can not even explain how I felt when he told me. It was amazing.”
The tight end position is more than a position for Markway, it is something that is in his blood. His father, Matt Markway, is a former Iowa tight end and his cousin, Kyle Markway, is a former tight end for the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Alabama has Markway’s attention early for several reasons, including their continued success.
“That is what happens when you have the best coach in college football history,” Markway said.
The Tight end position has become an intricate part of the passing offense at the college level and in the NFL. Markway shows flashes of being an all-around tight end despite being only a freshman. Alabama’s staff told him they were impressed with his playing style and his willingness to put in the dirty work.
“They say that I am an all-around tight end hybrid and I have that old school mentality, which means I am not afraid to put my hand in the dirt,” Markway said.
At 6-4 and 240 pounds, Markway was named a MaxPreps All-American as a freshman.

Alabama has offered multiple 2023 prospects in hopes that they can have a chance to land them three years from now. The Tide will look to host several of these rising prospects for visits when they get an opportunity to do so.
