Alabama fans had quite the head-scratching affair on Twitter Tuesday morning after waking up to multiple pictures posted online of wide receiver John Metchie disparaging Alabama head coach Nick Saban, insinuating he would be smoking marijuana and sharing that he had been kicked off of the team.
To little surprise, it turns out that this was a classic case of an athlete’s account being hacked. Sources informed Touchdown Alabama’s Stephen M. Smith that Metchie did not post these photos or comments and that someone was able to break into his Snapchat account and make these posts.
Metchie later confirmed the news on his Instagram where he shared that both his Snapchat and Twitter accounts had been hacked.

Right from the jump, many Alabama fans knew something was up as this type of commentary would have been extremely out of character for the mild-mannered Metchie who has been praised by Saban as one of the best people on the team.
“John Metchie has been a very, very positive contributor to our team,” Saban said in January. “He’s tough. He plays hurt. He plays physical. He gets open. He makes catches. He makes plays. He never complains.
“So this guy is the epitome of what you look for in a wide receiver. And he certainly hasn’t disappointed us in terms of how he’s developed here, how he’s worked here and what he’s developed into.”
