Former Tide players that stood out at NFL Scouting Combine

This year’s version of the “underwear Olympics,” better known as the National Football League Scouting Combine, climaxed on Monday at Lucas Oil Stadium. While there were some players that stood out and create value for themselves, a few of them came via Alabama football.

For the trio of Quinnen Williams, Damien Harris and Irv Smith Jr., all three dominated the event with strong performance. Williams has positioned himself for a chance to be the No. 1 overall pick in April, and Smith – regarded as a second-round pick – could sneak into late first-round.

Harris and offensive lineman Jonah Williams held their ground, finishing among the leaders at various drills in their respective positions.

Harris, a former five-star, clocked a 40-time of 4.57 seconds – which was 11th among backs. Quinnen Williams posted the fourth fastest time in the 40-yard dash by a 300-pound player since 2013, as he had a time of 4.83 seconds at 303 pounds.

In Monday’s airing of In My Own Words, Stephen Smith of Touchdown Alabama Magazine breaks down his biggest winners from the Combine for the Crimson Tide.
