Alabama in the Pros

Alabama led all colleges with players on opening day active rosters in the NFL — and it wasn’t even close

The Alabama Crimson Tide has been the standard college football program for the last decade, and seemingly since the arrival of Nick Saban. Since that time, the Tide has won five national championships, and has created a pipeline to the NFL, which has been more than appealing to incoming recruits seeking a career in professional football.

With the NFL season debuting last week, Alabama produced 56 players on opening day active rosters, with (the) Ohio State a distant second with 44.

Alabama is a program that prides itself in “the process” and part of that is seeing to it players leave the program prepared to excel on the next level and sustain themselves as a professional. With enough alums to field an entire NFL roster, it’s safe to assume Saban and company have done quite well seeing the process through.
