Touchdown Alabama came up with five key questions heading into Alabama’s Week 5 matchup at Georgia. Here’s a look at how the Crimson Tide answered those during its 24-21 victory over the Bulldogs.

Question: Can Alabama contain Gunner Stockton?

Answer: For the most part, yes. Stockton ran for 21 yards to convert on a third-and-4 from midfield late in the third quarter. Other than that, Alabama held the dual-threat quarterback to 3 yards on three carries. Defensive coordinator Kane Wommack came up with creative blitz packages to pressure Stockton without giving up contain. Meanwhile, the Tide’s defensive front did a decent job of getting to the backfield, preventing Alabama from needing to overcommit with blitzers.

Safety Keon Sabb did well to trip up Stockton on third-and-3 from the Alabama 10-yard line, causing the quarterback to fall a yard short of the first-down marker. That set up the Tide’s crucial fourth-down stop early in the fourth quarter.

Stockton had an opportunity to run for a first down on a third-and-5 from the Georgia 39-yard line midway through the first quarter. However, he elected to fire a pass over the middle, overthrowing Zachariah Branch to set up a punt.
