He knows an opportunity to win Most Valuable Player in the National Football League and guarantee his team home-field advantage throughout the playoffs is on the line.
Jalen Hurts suffered an SC joint sprain in his shoulder during a 25-20 victory for the Philadelphia Eagles over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Dec. 18. The second-year starting quarterback missed Christmas Eve’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys as the Eagles suffered a 34-40 loss. Hurts is having an incredible season, but he is ‘day-to-day’ for Sunday’s meeting with the New Orleans Saints at home. He has a chance at the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs, a first-round bye, and home-field advantage.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Hurts is ‘pushing’ to play against New Orleans.
From @NFLGameDay Morning: With the #Eagles still having a lot to play for, QB Jalen Hurts (SC joint sprain) is going to push to face the #Saints. Meanwhile, Gronk is still retired… for this season. He won’t be playing for the #Bucs tonight, but the door remains open for 2023. pic.twitter.com/rqV0TFqVJG

If the Eagles had beaten Dallas, Philadelphia would have rested Hurts again this week. Hurts has been dominant all year, totaling 3,472 passing yards, 747 rushing yards, and 35 touchdowns (13 rushing scores) to five interceptions.
