Kejiaun Johnson officially visited the South Carolina Gamecocks over the weekend.
Johnson is a product of Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Alabama. He currently garners a three-star rating from multiple recruiting sites at the moment with offers from Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and multiple other programs.
The Birmingham product kicked off his official visit slate with a trip to Columbus. Having an opportunity to talk one-on-one with the Gamecocks’ defensive backs coach Torrian Gray was a highlight of Johnson’s visit.
“The major takeaway was sitting down and getting a 1-on-1 talk with coach Gray, talking football,” Johnson told Touchdown Alabama. “Learning ahead is always great to me.”
South Carolina is a program many feel is trending in a good direction under Shane Beamer. The Gamecock’s coaching staff let Johnson know his development would be a priority if he chose to bring his talents to Columbus.
“Their message was playing for South Carolina, I’m going to be developed and be a great defensive back which can lead me to the NFL,” Johnson said.
The rising senior is a long defensive back at 6-foot-2 who knows how to use his length to his advantage in coverage. He is also effective against the run and has the potential to play cornerback or safety at the next level.
