For Alabama fans, the dream of having a quarterback hoist the coveted Heisman Trophy starts this weekend versus Texas A&M.
Tua Tagovailoa, a junior, is one of five signal callers that is a frontrunner for the award and Kyle Field presents a hostile environment from him.
Despite the legendary names that have come through the program, the University of Alabama has yet to have a quarterback win the bronze award.
Tagovailoa has changed the culture of Crimson Tide football and though he had strong numbers in 2018, he is shattering records.
The native Hawaiian is the long trigger man in the race without an interception and he’s averaging nearly 350 passing yards (343.6) a game with 23 touchdowns.
While a national championship is the ultimate goal, is it not time for Alabama to be recognized as a quarterback school too?
In Tuesday’s airing of In My Own Words, Stephen Smith of Touchdown Alabama Magazine discusses the importance of why supporters of the Tide need to be “all in” for Tagovailoa for the Heisman.
