Alabama football: Five marquee Rebels to scheme for this weekend

Justin Ford - USA TODAY Sports

After handling Southern Mississippi with ease, the University of Alabama football team returns to Southeastern Conference action on Saturday versus Mississippi at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

It no longer has the fascinating appeal of Hugh Freeze, big-bodied wide receivers and stellar quarterback play; however, the Rebels do have one of the most innovative offensive minds in college football in Rich Rodriguez.

Ole Miss enters the weekend, following a crushing loss to California on a controversial call as time expired.

Despite averaging just 25.3 points per game, Mississippi has the capabilities to post 30 to 40 points a matchup at any given moment.

The idea for Rodriguez is to spread the Crimson Tide’s defense out and attack from the perimeter to the inside. Matt Luke, head coach of Ole Miss, has players that pose a challenge to Alabama and Nick Saban said on Thursday’s “Hey Coach” show that the Rebels are much improved.

Listed below are five marquee guys to execute Mississippi’s scheme.

Matt Corral, QB

When he flipped his commitment from Florida to Ole Miss for the 2018 recruiting class, Rebel fans became very excited about Matt Corral.
