Alabama commit, targets set to compete for state championships

An Alabama commit and several of the Crimson Tide’s targets are set to compete in the Alabama high school football state championships this week.

This year’s championships will take place in Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. The 7A state championship will kick off the action Wednesday. Championship games will be played through Friday.

Here is a breakdown of the Alabama commit and the multiple Tide targets, who will be attempting to help their teams win a championship.

Ga’Quincy McKinstry 5-Star ATH (2021)

McKinstry, an Alabama commit, is in search of his third state championship ring. Pinson Valley and McKinstry took home state titles in 2017 and 2018. After failing to reach the state championship game as a junior, McKinstry is ready to help the Indians put another trophy in their trophy case. McKinstry has been used on both sides of the ball throughout this season. He is expected to do the same in the state championship game. Pinson Valley will take on Spanish Fort in the 6A State Championship Game Friday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Jeremiah Alexander – 5-Star LB (2022)

Alexander was once committed to the Tide. He de-committed  in October but recently told Touchdown Alabama, the Tide was still one of the top teams in his recruitment. The 5-Star linebacker anchors Thompson’s defense. The Warriors use him as traditional inside linebacker for the most part, but they also allow him to rush from the edge at times. The Warriors and Alexander will be in search of back-to-back state championships. Thompson will take on Auburn in the 7A State Championship Wednesday. kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Tanner Bailey – 4-Star QB (2022)

Bailey is one of the top quarterbacks in the 2022 recruiting class. The 4-Star recruit recently told Touchdown Alabama, the Tide’s coaching staff was in contact with him weekly. Gordo relies on Bailey’s ability to fit the football in tight spaces. Bailey has thrown for 2,227 yards and 27 touchdowns this season. He has only been intercepted four times. Gordo will take on Handley in the 4A State Championship Friday. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m.

TJ Dudley – 4-Star LB (2022)

Dudley currently has Alabama in his top six. Montgomery Catholic use the versatile linebacker in a variety of ways. Dudley’s primary position is inside linebacker, but he also lines up at the safety position in third and long situations. Dudley lines up at wildcat quarterback on offense as well. Montgomery Catholic will take on Fyffe in the 3A State Championship Game Thursday. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m.

Peter Woods – 4-Star DE (2023)

Woods is a 2023 prospect, who holds offers from some of the top programs in the nation, including Alabama. The sophomore is a force on the defensive line for Thompson and makes things easier for players like Jeremiah Alexander. Thompson will take on Auburn in the 7A State Championship Wednesday. kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

2023 DE, Peter Woods, is a 6-4 250 pound DE with more than 20 offers

Tony Mitchell – 4-Star DB (2023)

Mitchell is another 2023 prospect, who plays for Thompson and has an Alabama offer. The sophomore started off his high school football career at cornerback but has lined up at safety for most of this season. Thompson will take on Auburn in the 7A State Championship Wednesday. kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
