Another organization has announced its semifinalists for a national award in college football.

According to the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, Alabama football has two defensive players as semifinalists for the Lott IMPACT Trophy this season. The IMPACT honor, named after Ronnie Lott, goes to the student-athletes that best demonstrate the qualities of the I.M.P.A.C.T., which are integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community, and tenacity on and off the field.

Will Anderson (linebacker) and Jordan Battle (safety) are the semifinalists for the Crimson Tide.

Anderson does not have the production from last season, but he has been effective. He’s totaled 38 tackles — including a team-high 13 tackles for loss — seven sacks (team-high), 10 quarterback hurries (team-high), a blocked field goal, and an interception returned for a touchdown. Battle has 45 total tackles and a pass breakup. Since 2004, DeMeco Ryans is the lone Crimson Tide player to win the Lott IMPACT Trophy in 2005. Anderson and Battle are in a race with stiff competition, but they want to help Alabama finish the season strong. Both will lead the defense against Mississippi on Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
