Houston is taking him slowly through his transition back to football, but Metchie is showing the coaching staff he’s healthy in recovering from leukemia. He missed his rookie season in 2022, but the second-round pick is more than eager to show the organization what he can do. A native Canadian, Metchie left his mark on the Crimson Tide’s football program in 2020 and 2021.

As a former four-star wide receiver in the 2019 recruiting class, he totaled 55 receptions for 916 yards receiving and six touchdowns in 2020. Metchie helped the Tide to an undefeated College Football Playoff National Championship season and built off that performance the following year. He led the team with 96 catches in 2021 for 1,142 yards and eight touchdowns, pushing the offense to a 41-24 victory over Georgia in the Southeastern Conference Championship Game. Metchie is a talented receiver with strong routes and reliable hands. He will be a consistent target for rookie quarterback CJ Stroud and the Texans offense.
