While head coach Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs need to consider creating a role for Gehrig Dieter, the former wide receiver for the University of Alabama, Bowling Green State University and Southern Methodist University remains an inspiration for his community.
A native of South Bend, Ind., Dieter is preparing for his second annual youth football camp via The Institute for Athletes (IFA) on Saturday, June 29 at TCU School Field.

The event will start at 10 a.m., and is free to the community.
Participants ranging from ages 8 to 17 will have fun with Division I coaches, Dieter and his teammates as they teach fundamentals on how to succeed at the highest level.
After the community poured into Dieter, he became a 1,000-yard target at Bowling Green and was instrumental in helping Alabama win a Southeastern Conference Championship in 2016.
Hard work got Dieter to the National Football League and on the Chiefs’ active roster.

He brought in his first career reception during a regular season matchup versus the Oakland Raiders, which was a 22-yard grab from Patrick Mahomes II. His second catch came in an AFC Divisional Playoff Game against the Indianapolis Colts and while he did a great job on special teams versus the New England Patriots in the AFC title game, Kansas City fell short.
The Chiefs will win a Super Bowl with Dieter at some point, but he continues to a winner in South Bend with the youth.
