Nick Saban continues to grow a coaching staff of toughness on defense.
After hiring Charlie Strong as an analyst, the University of Alabama has added Max Bullough to Saban’s staff as a defensive assistant.
A former standout at Michigan State, Bullough was an impactful linebacker from 2010 to 2013.
He led the Spartans in tackles for 2011 (89) and 2012 (110), while assisting the 2013 defense to allowing just 13.2 points per game.
Bullough was on two Big Ten Championship teams (2010, 2013) and ended his career with 298 total tackles.

Despite not being selected in the 2014 NFL Draft, he signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent and played three seasons.
He would later join the practice squad of the Cleveland Browns in 2018, but things did not pan out. Bullough not only joins forces with someone familiar with Michigan State, but he also has a chance to help Saban win his sixth national championship at Alabama and seventh overall.
Prior to this opportunity at Alabama, Bullough was a graduate assistant at the University of Cincinnati.
Per a tweet from former Spartan linebacker, Kenny Willekes, he views Bullough as one of the best in the country.
Coach Bullough is one of the BEST defensive coaches in the country!! Michigan State would be smart to keep him!!!
